Stamping technology refers to a pressure processing method by which the stamping die is used to apply pressure on the material to produce plastic deformation or separation to obtain the required shape and size of the workpiece. As the stamping process is usually completed at room temperature and the material being punched is usually sheet metal, in order to distinguish it from other metal processing methods, the stamping process is also called cold stamping or sheet metal forming.

In the stamping process, the material (metal or non-metal) proceed into parts (or semi-finished products) special processing equipment, known as stamping die (abbreviated as stamping die). Stamping die is an indispensable process equipment in the process of stamping. It is exactly the same with stamping parts. Without the required stamping die, qualified stamping parts cannot be produced. Without advanced stamping die, advanced stamping forming technology can not be realized.

The advantages of stamping are as follows:

1) the production efficiency of stamping processing is high, and the operation is convenient, and it is easy to realize mechanization and automation;

2) The die ensures the size and shape accuracy of the stamping parts and has the characteristics of "exactly the same";

3)Stamping can produce parts with large size range and complicated shape;

4) Generally, there is no chip crushing material produced in stamping, and the material consumption is less.
